Frances M. Rynkiewicz

DEACONS’ WIFE, MOTHER

Frances M. Rynkiewicz, 73, of Gurnee, died Oct. 15.

Frances retired from Abbott Labs in 1998 after 25 years in service.

Born in Chicago, she married Carl Rynkiewicz in 1958 at St. Patrick’s Church in Wadsworth. She was a member of the parish and of the Shamrock Club and the Red Hat Society.

Carl Rynkiewicz was ordained a deacon in 1990, the same year he passed away.

Her son Stephen was ordained a deacon this past May. In addition to Stephen, she is survived by daughters Carla Borda and Mary Ann Steele; sons Thomas and Robert; 13 grandchildren; a brother, Charles Markiel; and a sister, Loretta Permoda.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1990.

Sr. André Kroupa

TEACHER, LIBRARIAN

School Sister of St. Francis André Kroupa, 97, died Oct. 16 in Milwaukee.

Sister André served as a teacher and librarian in Illinois and Wisconsin. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Sister André taught at Alvernia High School in Chicago (1936- 1940).

Sr. Mary T. Meegan

TEACHER, VICAR FOR RELIGIOUS

Sister Mary T. (John Maureen) Meegan, 83, died Oct. 19 in Adrian, Mich.

A Chicago native, she spent 41 years ministering in education in Florida and Illinois.

She taught at Aquinas High School (1954-61); Regina High School, Wilmette (1966-72); Fenwick High School, Oak Park (1973-84); and Mother McAuley High School (1987-88). In the neighboring Diocese of Joliet, she was vicar for religious for 11 years and spiritual formation director for five years.

Sister Mary is survived by a sister, Margaret Reilly.

Sr. M. Deborah Murphy

TEACHER

Holy Cross Sister M. Deborah (Geraldine Agnes) Murphy, 88, died Oct. 20.

A Chicago native, Sister Deborah ministered as an elementary school teacher. She taught at Most Holy Redeemer School, Evergreen Park, from 1986-1999.

She is survived by her brother, Edward Murphy.

Sr. Rose Aimee Tremblay

COUNSELOR

Sister Rose Aimee Tremblay, a member of the Parish Visitors of Mary Immaculate, died Oct. 25. She was 92.

Sister Rose Aimee was born in Quebec, Canada, and ministered most of her religious life in New York.

She worked in Chicago from 1942- 58, visiting people and doing social work in nine parishes. She also conducted a spiritual guidance program for young women choosing their careers.

Deacon Dennis Dunn

ORDAINED IN 1996

Deacon Dennis J. Dunn, 63, of Libertyville, died Oct. 26.

Deacon Dunn ministered at St. Joseph Parish, Libertyville, and was a computer analyst for IMRF in Northbrook. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, children Kerry and Dennis, brothers William and Timothy, and three grandchildren.

Msgr. Charles Mulcrone

SPRINGFIELD PRIEST

Msgr. Charles Mulcrone, 84, of Springfield, died Oct. 30. He is the uncle of Fathers Joseph and Thomas Mulcrone of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

A Chicago native, Msgr. Mulcrone was ordained a priest in 1953 and was made a monsignor in 2002.

He served as an assistant pastor and pastor at several parishes in the Springfield diocese, including 11 years as rector at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception 1976-87. He also served as the diocesan rural life director in 1970. He retired in 1994, and he served as director of the Priests’ Retirement Center, Springfield, in 1997-98. He was Faithful Friar of Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Bishop Griffin Assembly. He enjoyed entertaining people with his fabulous piano playing.

He is survived by a sister, Mary Gietl, and two brothers, Edward and Vincent. He had 25 nieces and nephews and 49 grand nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Sr. Mary Helen O’Malley

DIETICIAN

Franciscan Sister Mary Helen (Helen Marie) O’Malley, 89, died Oct. 29 in Clinton, Iowa.

She was born in Chicago and spent most of her 45 years of active ministry in food service. She ministered in Clinton and Burlington, Iowa, and Macomb, Ill.

She is survived be her sister, Noreen Garry, of Oak Forest.
