50 YEARS

BROTHER ANTHONY RAGUCCI has worked as a volunteer coordinator and mission director and in community leadership. He served at Alexian Brothers Hospitals and Provincialate, Chicago and Elk Grove Village; in California, Tennessee and Wisconsin. He is retired and lives in the Alexian Brothers Community, Signal Mountain, Tenn.

50 YEARS

BROTHER FRED DILLENBURG, from Evergreen Park, was an educator. He now serves as treasurer of the Christian Brothers’ Fund at the Westmont North Community, Westmont.

BROTHER LEO JONES ministered in business management and teaching. He now is the associate director of development at St. Joseph High School, Westchester.

BROTHER NEIL KIEFFE is an educator. He was an auxiliary visitor and visitor in the Chicago archdiocese and now serves as director of instructional technology at Bethlehem University, Bethlehem, Palestinian Authority.

BROTHER JAMES ZULLO, from Oak Park, works as a clinical and consulting psychologist in Chicago. He served on the ministry staff at Loyola University, Chicago and founded the Christian Brothers Counseling Center.

Congregation of Christian Brothers

50 YEARS

BROTHER WILLIAM L. McINERNEY, a Chicago native, taught English and religious stories. He served at St. Laurence High School, Burbank, and Leo High School. He is retired and lives at the Bethlehem Woods Retirement Community, LaGrange Park.

BROTHER KENNETH L. WOLF taught French and English as a second language. He served at Brother Rice High School, is retired and lives at Edmund Rice, Chicago.

Society of the Divine Word

50 YEARS

FATHER WILLIAM HEGARTY worked in parish ministry and community leadership. He served at St. Elizabeth, St. Anselm, St. Rita and in New Jersey. He now is the assistant novice director at Techny.

40 YEARS

FATHER WALTER BRACKEN worked in parish ministry and community leadership. He served in several administrative capacities at Techny: superior delegate for the Chicago Province; member, North America provinces retirement, medical committtee; chair, Divine Word International board of directors, Divine Word Theologate Charitable Trust, Techny Land Committee; and member of the education, executive and province medical plan committees. He now serves as rector, Divine Word Residence, Techny.

FATHER GARY RIEBE-ESTRELLA spent most of his ministry dealing with the challenges of cultural diversity in formation for religious life, theological education and ministerial preparation and provincial leadership. He has served as coordinator of formation for his congregation in North, Central and South America; was director of the USCCB Project 13 on Hispanic vocations and formation; was a member of the CMSM formation committee and on both the program advisory committee and the board of directors of the Center for the Study of Religious Life. He served in Arizona and now is vice president and academic dean of the Catholic Theological Union.

25 YEARS

FATHER RICK ANDRUS worked with parish and youth ministries, was a counselor, spiritual director and religion teacher. He served first as associate pastor at St. Elizabeth and then in Missouri. He worked with Mayor Harold Washington’s Commission on Youth and Gang Violence and received the “Black on Black Love Award” presented by Ebony-Jet Magazine. He returned to St. Elizabeth Parish in 2000, where he has since served as pastor.

BROTHER DANIEL HOLMAN was an educator, vocation recruiter, chaplain and community leader and did formation work. He served in Iowa and Washington, D.C., and then returned to Techny with a ministry in graphic arts/design at the Divine Word Mission Office. He now serves there as a superior delegate of Chicago Province.

Franciscans

50 YEARS

FATHER MICHAEL CLARAHAN worked with addicted people, taught, and did pastoral formation and retreat and supply ministry. He served at St. Peter Friary, New Lenox, Ill., and in Missouri and Texas. He lives in retirement in Springfield, Ill.

FATHER GLENN PHILLIPS worked in pastoral formation and pastoral ministry, and he was a guardian, vicar, parochial vicar and confessor. He served at St. Peter’s in the Loop; Holy Spirit; in Quincy and New Lenox, Ill.; and in Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nebraska and Louisiana. He’s now back at St. Peter’s, where he serves as a confessor.

FATHER THOMAS ESS worked in pastoral formation and pastoral ministry and as a chaplain and instructor. He served at St. Peter’s in the Loop, in Joliet and Teutopolis, Ill.; and in Ohio, Michigan, Texas, Wisconsin, Hawaii and Hyde Park, New York, where he now is co-responsible at the Spirituality Center for Men Religious.

25 YEARS

FATHER ARTHUR ANDERSON worked as a teacher, chaplain, guardian, regional director of vocations, provincial councilor and student of canon law. He served at Hales Franciscan High School, St. Joseph, Catholic Theological Union, Holy Spirit and in Tennessee and Rome. He now is director of priestly formation and serves at St. Peter’s and Catholic Theological Union.

FATHER ALBERT HAASE has been a confessor, member of the retreat staff and teacher. He served at St. Peter’s, Holy Spirit and Catholic Theological Union; in Oak Brook, Joliet and Quincy, Ill.; and in Missouri. He now is at the St. Gratian Friary, Countryside.

Jesuits

50 YEARS

FATHER KEITH ESENTHER, a Chicago native whose home parishes were Blessed Sacrament and St. Barbara, Brookfield, worked in administration, spiritual formation, teaching, counseling and as a spiritual and retreat director. He served at St. Ignatius College Prep; Loyola University Law School, Chicago; Loyola Academy, Wilmette; Chicago Province Jesuits; in Michigan and Sudan. He now is the director of the ESL program at St. Joseph Seminary.

FATHER JOSEPH FOLZENLOGEN worked in adult faith formation and spirituality, family enrichment and urban ministry. He served at St. Ignatius Church; Christian Life Center, La Grange Park; Loyola Academy, Wilmette and in Ohio and Indiana. He now is the director of Claver Jesuit Ministry, Cincinnati.

FATHER ROBERT IGNATIUS GRIB, from Five Holy Martyrs Parish, taught, did village pastoral work and catechist training. He served at the Barrington Retreat House; Our Lady of the Brook, Northbrook; and in India for 31 years. He now is the associate pastor, St. Juliana.

FATHER EDWARD H. KONERMAN was a theologian, college administrator, freshman dean, pastoral minister, chaplain and parish assistant. He served at St. Mary of the Lake, Mundelein; Immaculate Heart of Mary; Loyola University Chicago; at the Catholic Theological Society of America, and in Indiana, where he now is the chaplain at the Ministry Center of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, Donaldson.

BROTHER ROBERT W. SCHNEIDER ministered in three Jesuit community houses; Misericordia; Loyola University, Chicago; Loyola Academy, Wilmette; and St. Ignatius College Prep. He now does social ministry, Cincinnati.

FATHER PETER. E. SHARKEY, from Holy Family Parish (Roosevelt Road), worked in education, administration and college campus and parish ministry. He served at St. Ignatius College Prep and Rosary College (now Dominican University), River Forest. He does social ministry at the Mary Magdalen House, Cincinnati.

FATHER JOHN R. SIMA, from St. Leonard Parish, Berwyn, did pastoral ministry, spiritual direction and retreat work. He served at St. Ignatius and in Peru, where he has worked as a missionary since 1965.

25 YEARS

FATHER JOHN M. FERONE ministered at Loyola Academy, Wilmette, and now serves as superior of the Faber Jesuit Community, retreat director and assistant province vocation director in Cincinnati

FATHER KEVIN H. FLAHERTY had been a pastoral minister and a psychological counselor and spiritual director. He served at St. Ignatius and St. Procopius parishes. He now is ministering in Lima, Peru.

FATHER THEODORE G. MUNZ has been a team leader and administrator. He served on the Pilsen Project and now is president of Loyola Academy, Wilmette.

FATHER WILLIAM L. VERBRYKE has served in education, community leadership and work as a vocation director. He served at Loyola Academy, Wilmette, and in the Chicago Province of the Society of Jesus. He now is the superior at Loyola House (Novitiate) and novice director at Loyola House, Berkley, Mich.

Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate

50 YEARS

FATHER GREGORY CHOLEWA, a Chicago native, was a local pastor, director of Children’s Home and now teaches at Holy Trinity High School.

CARDINAL FRANCIS GEORGE, from St. Pascal Parish, ministered in teaching, religious formation and congregational and diocesan administration. He now serves as the Archbishop of Chicago.

FATHER GEORGE KURYVIAL, a Chicago native, served in education and pastoral work. He was director of the Pastoral Office for Handicapped Ministry, was a consultant in special religious education and served in Lincoln and Joliet, Ill., and in Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin. He still is in active ministry but on a reduced workload and lives at St. Henry’s Oblate Residence, Belleville, Ill.

FATHER EUGENE PRENDIVILLE, a Chicago native, worked as a missionary, pastor and hospital chaplain. He served in Lincoln, Ill., and Japan and now is a sacramental minister at St. Mary & St. Mark Parish, Madison, Ill.

FATHER DARRELL RUPIPER has worked as a missionary, pastor and in religious formation and justice and peace ministry. He served as pastor of Precious Blood Parish, as an Oblate staff member, in Nebraska and as a missionary in Brazil. He now preaches on ecology in the Chicago area.

Passionists

50 YEARS

FATHER FRANCIS CUSACK, from St. Sabina Parish, worked in parish ministry and local leadership in Passionist communities. He now serves as the local superior for the Passionist Community’s Immaculate Con- ception Retreat, Chicago.

FATHER SEBASTIAN MacDONALD was a provincial leader, teacher and local leader in Passionist communities. He served at Catholic Theological Union and is the local superior for the Passionist Community’s St. Vincent Strambi Retreat, Chicago.

FATHER PHILIP SCHAEFER worked in pastoral ministry and school administration. He served at Maryhaven Nursing Home, Glenview, and in Alabama. He is retired and lives at the Passionist Community, Chicago.

Missionaries of the Precious Blood

25 YEARS

FATHER WILLIAM NORDENBROCK served in Chicago as director of advanced formation for his community and was involved in the initial development of the Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation, then served as a member of the team. He now serves as a member of the General Council of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood and part-time member of the Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation, Chicago.

Salesians of Don Bosco

25 YEARS

BROTHER CHARLES THENIER, from St. John Bosco Parish, worked in youth and Hispanic ministry. He now serves on the pastoral team at St. John Bosco Parish.

Servites

50 YEARS

BROTHER EDMUND M. BARAN, from St. Mark Parish, did formation work and was in provincial leadership and business. He was director of federally-funded senior citizen and early childhood programs such as Head Start, day care and youth programs for the Archdiocese of Chicago; a seminary staff member at the Servite Seminary, Hillside; and served at St. Philip High School. He now is the provincial treasurer at the Our Lady of Sorrows Monastery, Chicago. He also worked in Belgium and Ireland.

BROTHER MARTIN M. DOHERTY, from Our Lady of Grace Parish, worked in education and provincial administration. He served at Our Lady of Sorrows Monastery; St. Bonfilius Priory; the Servite Development Office, Berwyn; and at Marist High School. He is retired.

FATHER AUGUSTINE M. KULBIS, from Our Lady of Vilna Parish, was a seminary instructor, associate pastor, pastor, assistant provincial and prior provincial. He served at Stonebridge Priory, Lake Bluff; St. Domitilla, Hillside; Servite Eastern Province; Assumption Parish (Illinois St.); Our Lady of Sorrows Monastery; and in Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, Colorado and Rome. He is retired.

FATHER MYLES M. LYNCH, from St. Dorothy Parish, worked as a seminary and high school instructor and formation director and performed parochial duties. He served at St. Philip High School; the Servite Seminary, Hillside; and in California and Australia, where he now works at the Seven Holy Founders Priory, Parkville, Victoria.

BROTHER BONFILIUS M. McGOVERN served in education and parochial and province ministry. He served at the Stonebridge Priory, Lake Bluff; Servite Seminary and St. Domitilla Parish, Hillside; Marist High School; and in Michigan and Belgium. He is semi-retired and does province ministry at Our Lady of Sorrows Monastery. 25 years

FATHER CHRISTOPHER M. KRYMSKI did pastoral work and the St. Peregrine Ministry. He served at Annunciata Parish; St. Domitilla Priory, Hillside; and in Missouri. He now is pastor, Our Lady of Sorrows Parish.

50 YEARS

FATHER JOHN A. PISORS, from St. Viator Parish, has worked in parish ministry and teaching. He served at Blessed Agnes Parish and in Colombia, where he now works in Bogota.

FATHER ALAN M. SYSLO, from St. Hedwig and Our Lady of the Angels parishes, ministered in social work. He served at St. Viator High School, Arlington Heights; in Peoria, Ill.; Louisiana, Nevada and California. He was director of the Pope John XXIII AIDS Ministry and did volunteer work with the Desert AIDS Project, Paws and Hearts and Gay and was the ministry of presence for the gay and lesbian community. He is semi-retired and lives in Palm Spring, Calif.

25 YEARS

FATHER CHRISTOPHER J. GLANCY has ministered in education, community leadership and parish and community ministry. He served at St. Viator High School and at the Viatorian Province Center, Arlington Heights; Colombia; and Belize, where he now is pastor of St. Francis Xavier Church, Corozal.

FATHER DANIEL T. NOLAN has worked in education, community leadership and parish and community ministry. He served at St. Viator High School and the Viatorian Province Center, Arlington Heights; in Rock Island and Springfield, Ill.; and in Nevada. He now is on a sabbatical.

FATHER JOHN N. PEETERS, from St. Viator Parish, has been a parish and community minister and congregational leader. He served at the Viatorian Province Center; in Springfield and Bourbonnais, Ill.; Rome; Belize; and Colombia. He now is pastor at St. Patrick Parish, Kankakee.

FATHER THOMAS R. VON BEHREN has worked in education, school administration, community leadership and parish and community ministry. He served at St. Viator High School and the Viatorian Province Center, Arlington Heights; in Springfield and Bourbonnais, Ill.; and Nevada. He now serves as provincial superior, Province of Chicago.
