Good news greets Catholic school students
About 115,000 Catholic school students and 6,400 teachers and staff returned to classes at the end of August to good news about how well archdiocesan schools prepare students academically.

Media shouldnt obscure churchs inner-city efforts
Why make such a statement at this time? Simply because stories that appeared recently in the media regarding the demolition of Catholic churches in Chicagos predominantly African-American community have reported declarations by well-meaning but uninformed advocates that are simply not true.

Nurses take health education to people at home
Registered nurse Shirley White has worked as a Catholic Charities Home Care clinical manager for about 2 years, coordinating the health services her senior citizen patients need to be able to stay in their homes and communities. But this summer, she was awarded the Amerigroup Foundations Healthy Hero Award for her work with dozens of asthma patients, mostly children, and their families.
