Anti-abortion activist Joe Scheidler has been a lightning rod for controversy in the highly charged debate But whether they agree with him or not, activist groups of all stripes have lined up in support of the landmark Scheidler vs. the National Organization for Women case now before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Several archdiocesan parishes plan special prayer services before Christmas supporting the against pre-emptive military effort by the United States against Iraq. The efforts came as the Archdiocese of Chicago joined other Chicago-area religious leaders calling on President Bush to seek peace rather than war.
New SW high school plans move closer to implementation
A new co-ed Catholic high school, one built from the ground up, is a step closer to serving students in southwestern Cook County. Archdiocesan officials have announced the launch of a capital campaign feasibility study to determine the potential to raise funds for a the school, proposed for the Orland Park area.

Years ago, when people talked about adoption, the situation that popped into most peoples heads was that of the unwed mother, unable to care for her baby because of family or social pressures, who left the maternity hospital without her infant, never to see or hear from the child again.
