Beth Leverich speaks to a couple who stopped by while walking around on state street. Youth gathered at Holy Name Cathedral for "Night Fever" on Oct. 5. Nightfever is an evening of Adoration, Music, Reconciliation and Outreach. Nightfever started 6 years ago in the Archdiocese of Cologne and is now in over 30 cities of Germany, other countries of Europe, Canada and the United States. While Adoration takes place a team of helpers invites people on the street to light a candle in the Church while others welcome them at the door. A music team plays soft peaceful "live"-music, while others say prayers now and help create an atmosphere of peace and serenity. People come and go as they wish. They have the possibility to talk to a priest, get a blessing or receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It is a wonderful way to reach out to people on the street in the middle of downtown Chicago, and to give people another image of the Church.
