Participants celebrate All Souls Day, or Día de los Muertos, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines on Nov. 2. Families spent the afternoon assembling altars with pictures and items from deceased relatives and friends. The altars were individually blessed by clergy following a Mass. The celebration continued with serenades and traditional Mexican music.
