On April 27, worshippers release balloons in Daley Plaza after praying the Divine Mercy chaplet in several and prayers of thanksgiving for the canonization for John Paul II and John XXIII on April 27. As part of the Divine Mercy Project they also prayed for an end to violence in Chicago. Their display in Daley Plaza had been vandalized a few days prior.
