A group of 30 Catholics from around the archdiocese attended a weekend pilgrimage to the sites of Father Tolton's early life in Quincy, Ill., and Brush Creek, Mo. This plaque bears a quote attributed to Father Tolton and is on the side of a statue of the priest outside of St. Peter’s Catholic School in Quincy. The first St. Peter School opened in 1861 and was staffed by the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
