Cardinal Edward Egan, retired Archbishop of New York and an Oak Park native, reflects before the start of a prayer service during the wake Sept. 29. Cardinal Egan and Bishop Lyne had been close friends since the years then-Father Egan lived at Holy Name rectory while serving as assistant chancellor of the Archdiocese of Chicago and secretary to Cardinal Albert Meyer.
