Father Marco Mercado, pastor of Good Shepherd Parish, 2735 S. Kolin Ave., talks to a Chicago CAPS police officer during the annual "Don't Kill A Dream, Save A Life" event on May 7. City officials say 4,000 weapons (no questions asked) were turned in at 24 church locations throughout the city. Participants were rewarded with $100 gift cards for real weapons and $10 for BB guns, air guns and replica guns for their efforts to help get guns off the streets of Chicago.
