Thomas Mulligan (center) professes perpetual vows as a Knight of Justice in the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta. Cardinal George was the principal celebrant at the Mass of profession held at Queen of All Saints Basilica, 6280 N. Sauganash Ave., on Dec. 19. The Order of Malta includes lay knights and dames, but there are only 40 professed knights worldwide -- four are in the United States.
