Photos taken at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines during events to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Tens of thousands braved the frigid temperatures to make the pilgrimage. Included are photos from the Antorcha Guadalupana (Guadalupe Torch Run), a visit by the Club Los Vaqueros Unidos (United Cowboy Club) and the closing Mass at the shrine on Dec. 12.

Members of "Club Los Vaqueros Unidos " (United Cowboy Club) of Wadsworth, Ill., wait for a blessing after more than 100 horses made their way past the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines on Dec. 8. The procession was part of a pre-celebration for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Dec 12. More than 100,000 people make a pilgrimage to the shrine each year for the feast, which celebrates the appearance of Mary to indigenous peasant St. Juan Diego in 1531 near present-day Mexico City.
