Students from Catholic schools around the archdiocese attended the 36th annual African-American Heritage Month service on Feb. 26. The theme for the morning was "This is Our Story." Students from several schools portrayed African-Americans on the road to sainthood and internationally known Catholic artist ValLimar Jansen addressed the students.
Third-graders Dominique Joseph, Damaris Valdes and Waslat June and fifth-grader Mario Griffith, all students at St. Michael School, 8231 S. South Shore Drive, gesture in prayer toward the end of a prayer service at Holy Name Cathedral.
