Father Brendan Curran from St. Pius V Church holds onto a banner with his brother priests as a Native American cleansing ceremony takes place prior to the start of an immigration march in Chicago on May 29. More than 1,000 priests, religious, parishioners from Catholic parishes joined Christian, Jewish and Islamic leaders and walked and prayed to promote immigration reform. Under the banner, " We Are God’s Family, " participants, including representatives of the Catholic Campaign for Immigration Reform (CCIR) of the Archdiocese of Chicago and Priests for Justice for Immigrants and Sisters and Brothers of Immigrants, walked from UIC’s John Paul II Newman Center to Holy Family Parish in Chicago.
