Marching, praying for life

More than 300 people from the Archdiocese of Chicago traveled to the nation’s capital for the annual march while Catholics here kept vigil and prayed for an end to legalized abortion. These photos chronicle the local and national pro-life events.

Don Fist, Georgiane and Marilyn Roraff hold candles representing the 27,000 children lost to abortion in Cook and Lake counties in 2008 prior to the start of the annual Mass for Life on Jan. 9 at St. Eugene Parish, 7958 W. Foster Ave. The Mass was held to pray for the children lost to and women hurt by abortion on the 37th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling legalizing abortion.
