Tom Ryan, president of the Chicago Firefighters Union Local No. 2, hands down a donated bike to Jim Neary during the 11th annual “Toy Parade” in Chicago Dec. 3. Thousands of toys for needy children cared for by Catholic Charities were delivered to a union hall. Firefighters and paramedics collected the toys from almost every firehouse in the city. The annual motorcade has become a highlight of Catholic Charities’ “toy shower,” which is part of its annual month-long Celebration of Giving.
