Honoring Mary in May

Local parishes honored Mary in May, the month in the church calendar traditionally marked to celebrated May crownings and Marian feast days such as of Our Lady of Fatima on May 13.

Father Ron Hicks, vicar general for the Archdiocese of Chicago, incenses the statue of Mary following the opening procession at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Brighton Park on May 13. This Mass kicked off a year-long celebration at the parish leading up to the centenary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal. The church completed a full renovation that was unveiled at the Mass.
