Archbishop Cupich was the main celebrant at a Mass during the Velika Gospa Croatian Fest at St. Jerome Croatian Church, 2823 S. Princeton Ave., on Aug. 15. Prior to Mass a procession made its way through the neighborhood and included bands, parish members wearing traditional Croatian clothes and a large the image of Mary. The procession is the oldest continuously held on the same day in the same neighborhood in Chicago, according to the parish. Velika Gospa is Croatian for the "great day of Our Lady," the feast of the Assumption. The feast ends a novena to Our Lady. Photos by Karen Callaway/Catholic New World
