Catholics flock to annual St. Rocco festival

On Aug. 16, participants processed through the Bridgeport neighborhood carrying a statue of St. Rocco. They were part of the 95th anniversary St. Therese Parish's celebration of the feast of St. Rocco di Simbario. The traditional Italian festival includes people affixing dollars to statues asking for the saint's intercession. Families process with the statue of St. Rocco and also with homemade candlehouses.
