St. Catherine Laboure
3535 N. Thornwood Ave., Glenview
Rising out of what was a prairie wasteland near Glenview Naval
Air Station, this parishs second church building, pie-shaped
and modern, designed by architect Joseph Bennett, was dedicated
in 1969.
Full of light from clear and stained glass windows, recent renovations
have enhanced its comfort and beauty.
The parish is named for the Daughter of Charity who was given
the Miraculous Medal in 1830 by the Blessed Mother. Situated on
16 spacious acres of land, parishioners also make the most of
their outdoors with benches surrounding a pro-life memorial garden
as well as other garden areas.
A new pre-school will be a welcome additon to their flourishing
current K-8 program this fall.
The parishs spiritual life includes 25 years of Christ Renews
His Parish as well as a perpetual adoration chapel.
