St. Edna Church
2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights
"In this place extraordinary miracles happen from time to time.
Quiet wonders occur every day." This inscription at the entrance
of St. Edna's says it all. The edifice of dark brick with stark
white trim along its angular roof, was designed by architects
Kefer and Pilolla. Within the church a processional crucifix and
candle holders are the work of artist Jerzy Kenar. A statue to
Mary, Mother of Hope, was done by Korean-born sculptor Anna Koh
Varilla. The church was named in memory of the wife of a generous
patron of the archdiocese, and now another benefactor has come
forth. Donating $1 million towards enlarging the gathering space,
providing more seating, renovation of the sanctuary, and other
ecclesial items, the gift will allow the church to stretch a bit
on itss eight-acre site. A carillon calls worshippers to this
parish known through the years for its priceless patrimony of
outstanding lay leadership.
