Cardinal George celebrated
a 40th anniversary Mass at the O’Hare Airport Chapel Nov. 1, All Saints Day, to honor the chapel’s mission of providing a spiritual haven to travelers and workers at one of the world’s busiest transportation centers.

Following the Mass and reception, the cardinal went on an official tour of the airport. The airport chapel was founded Nov. 1, 1960, and housed unofficially in a basement room for years, until the new interfaith chapel opened in Terminal 2 in 1991.
