The 27th Annual Archdiocesan Posada at Holy Name Cathedral took place on December 15, 2013. Posada, which means shelter in Spanish, commemorates the journey Mary and Joseph took from Nazareth to Bethlehem and reenacts the couple's search for shelter before the birth of Christ.
Children dressed as angels surround Cesar Vega (Joseph) and Samar Ortiz (Mary) during the posada. After final prayer,s children were given "Aguinaldos," or bags of "treats," and the celebration moved to the cathedral parking lot for the traditional breaking of piñatas as well as complimentary tamales and hot chocolate for all participants.
