Bishop Rojas celebrated Mass marking the 100th anniversary of Immaculate Conception Parish, 2745 W. 44th St., on September 21, 2014. The parish was founded by Lithuanian immigrants and now has a mostly Hispanic congregation. The Mass was celebrated in English, Spanish and Lithuanian.
Sisters of St. Casimir Virginia Gapsis, Rita Marie Kerdock, Salvatore Ciuckyte, Maureen Juozapavicius, Deborah Romanuski, Margaret Petcavage, Margaret Mary Mazgelis (hidden), Lawrence Puishys, and Paulissa Puisis smile as the congregation applauds their years of service at the parish school following Mass. Sisters Virginia Gapsis, Margaret Petcavage and Lawrence Puishys are former principals of the school, which is now closed.
