Over 300 riders from various cowboy clubs from the Chicago area made their way to place a rose at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines on Dec. 6, 2015.
In Mexico City, it's a tradition for groups or clubs to make a pilgrimage to the Guadalupe shrine there on the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which commemorates Mary's appearance to St. Juan Diego on Tepeyac Hill near modern-day Mexico City. Three years ago, various cowboy clubs from the Chicago area began making a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines. This year more than 300 riders came on Dec. 6.
