The second annual summer tribute to Our Lady of Guadalupe was held June 10 to June 12, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines. The mid-year tribute included a concert on Saturday featuring the “Siervas,” a group of Latin-American religious order sisters from Peru, who sing pop/rock and Latin infused Catholic music. This will be their first concert in the United States after performing for Pope Francis on his most recent visit to Mexico. Also, a special Mass on Sunday was celebrated by Cardinal Alberto Suárez Inda from the Archdiocese of Morelia, Mexico.
The sisters also performed before Pope Francis in Mexico. The group is made up of nuns from all corners of the world, including Peru, China, Japan, Ecuador and Chile among other countries and have nearly 30,000 followers on Facebook. This was the group's first U.S. performance.
