Catholic faithful in the Archdiocese of Chicago commemorate the coming of Jesus' birth in various ways each year but with the same purpose: to honor the child Savior who came to redeem us all.
Rogelio Diaz and Noemi Hernandez portray the biblical Joseph and Virgin Mary while leading immigration reform activists during a posada outside the Broadview Detention Center Dec. 17. The traditional Mexican procession symbolizes a search for shelter, hope and justice. This posada began at the immigration detention center to symbolize the need for human dignity for all immigrants. The group then walked to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Melrose Park.
