Catholic faithful in the Archdiocese of Chicago commemorate the coming of Jesus' birth in various ways each year but with the same purpose: to honor the child Savior who came to redeem us all.
Matthew Sable, a parishioner at St. Mary of the Woods, carries the Christ Child statue to be placed in a manger at Chicago's Daley Plaza Nov. 27. He was helped by his younger brother, David, 7, who was hospitalized last Christmas. Members of the God Squad, volunteers from area parishes, set up the outdoor crèche for the last 25 years.
