A committal service for unidentified deceased persons was held on Dec. 4 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 2755 W. 111th St. Archbishop Cupich presided at the service during which 20 unidentified persons and a number of unborn children were buried. Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Chicago assists the county with the burial of the indigent and the unborn.

Cruz was one of several funeral directors from Chicago and the suburbs who volunteered to transport the remains of unidentified persons from the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office to the cemetery for the committal service.
