Sr. Luan Noecker

TEACHER, ARCHIVIST

School Sister of St. Francis Luan Noecker died June 12 in Campbellsport, Wis.

A Nebraska native, she was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis in 1934.

Sister Luan was a teacher, principal and archivist in Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, she taught at St. Martin (1942-49) and Immaculate Conception (1960-64).

Fr. John DiVito

ITALIAN NATIVE

Scalabrinian Father John Di Vito, 87, died June 14 at St. Joseph Home for the Elderly in Palatine.

Born in Villa di Scontrone, Italy, Father DiVito was ordained in 1946. In the Archdiocese of Chicago he served as assistant pastor of Santa Maria Addolorata (1948-50) and St. Francis Xavier Cabrini (1950-53); pastor of St. Charles Borromeo, Melrose Park (1953- 56); rector of Sacred Heart Seminary, Stone Park, (1976-77); administrator of Our Lady of Pompeii Parish (1992-93); chaplain at Villa Scalabrini, Casa San Carlo, Northlake (1993- 2002), and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Melrose Park (2002-06).

He also served in New York, Australia, Canada and Italy.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters Anthony DiVito, Celia Cairo, Emily Melone and Ettore DiVito Jr.

Sr. James Adele LaBonte

TEACHER, LIBRARIAN

Adrian Dominican Sister James Adele (Marie Elizabeth) LaBonte, 88, died June 17 in Adrian, Mich.

A Chicago native, she spent 33 years ministering in elementary education in Michigan and Illinois.

In the Archdiocese of Chicago, she taught at St. Joseph, Homewood (1958-61); St. Denis (1961- 62, 1965-67); and St. Rita (1967- 68). She also was school librarian at St. Denis (1970-75).

She is survived by a sister, Adela Auskalnis, and a brother, Donald LaBonte.

Br. Thomas Paul Iwicki

RELIGION TEACHER, SACRISTAN

Resurrectionist Brother Thomas Paul Iwicki, 69, died June 15 in Woodstock, Ill.

Brother Iwicki attended St. Hyacinth School and Archbishop Weber High School.

In the Archdiocese of Chicago, he taught religion at Gordon Tech High School, then served as sacristan at Archbishop Weber High School, St. John Cantius Parish and 33 years at St. Hyacinth Basilica.

Sr. Marcella LaKoske

TEACHER

Adrian Dominican Sister Marcella (Ann Valerie) LaKoske, 91, died June 19 in Adrian, Mich.

A Detroit native, she was a teacher for 35 years in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Florida. She also served as pastoral minister, nursing home staff member and a nurse aide in home health care. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, she taught at Queen of Angels (1948- 55) and St. Joseph, Homewood (1957-59).

She is survived by her sisters, Rita Candela and Eugenia Obrecht.

Sr. Georgia Ann Lange

EDUCATOR

BVM Sister Georgia Ann (Georgelle) Lange, 79, died June 21 in Dubuque, Iowa.

A Moline native, she joined the BVMs in 1948. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Sister Georgia Ann taught at St. Eugene (1955-58, 1959-63) and St. Odilo, Berwyn (1958-59).

Sr. Mary Anno LaMere

TEACHER, PRINCIPAL

Sinsinawa Dominican Sister Mary Anno LaMere, 69, died June 23 at home in Denver, Colo.

A Nebraska native, She made her first religious profession in 1962. She taught elementary and junior high school and was a principal. Her ministries took her to Illinois, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Colorado.

In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Sister Mary Anno taught at St. Thomas More (1963-67) and St. Brendan (1970-77). She was principal at St. Richard (1981-88) and St. Gertrude (1988-90).

She is survived by three sisters, Irene LaMere, Gwen McKivergan, and Theresa Rush; and four brothers, Charles, Harold, Ed and Tim LaMere.

Sr. Mary Incarnata Hlavac

TEACHER

Adrian Dominican Sister Mary Incarnata (Anna Veronica) Hlavac, 96, died June 26 in Adrian, Mich.

An Ohio native, she spent 45 years ministering in education in Michigan, Illinois and Ohio, before serving as a pastoral minister and ministering to the elderly.

In the Archdiocese of Chicago, she taught at Queen of Angels (1931-33) and Our Lady of Good Counsel (1934-40).

She is survived by a brother, Rudolph Hlavac.
