St. Anne Church
120 N. Ela St., Barrington
There have been “growing pains” here since the first mission church in 1884. A new church for the third millennium of Christianity was built at St. Anne’s in April 2000, designed by architect Royce Yeater. Its main floor and mezzanine can seat 1,370. Antiphonal seating gives an unobstructed view of the sacramental action as well as a familial connection with other worshippers. The Lannon stone edifice, with natural lighting, as well as two rose windows and other stained glass designed by David Wilson, is a spectacular setting for strong and effective liturgies.
Impelled by the conviction, “Because we have been blessed we want to bless,” there are more than 60 active ministries, including an extensive outreach to the poor. Monetary charitable giving alone is $500,000 a year. There are Scripture and Bible study groups, active seniors and 2,500 youth in some kind of religious participation. With an average age of 33, St. Anne’s is still growing.
