Our Lady of Humility
10655 W. Wadsworth Road,
Beach Park/Zion

Our Lady of Humility Church in Lake County, turned itself around architecturally for its 50th anniversary in 2004. The rich-hued Marian symbols in stained glass now framing either side of the sanctuary, previously flanked the exit doors of the church, almost unnoticed. Doing a 180 with the help of Daprato Rigali Studios, the renovation also included replacing original benches with pews. A new rose window depicting Our Lady of Humility is now above the reredos. Designed by architect Joseph L. Bennett, Zion’s only Catholic church was dedicated by Cardinal Samuel Stritch during the Marian Year of 1956, and named for his favorite Marian title. Stations of the Cross in stained glass along the nave walls, by Pickel Art Glass Studios, add even more color to the wood-beamed interior. This northeastern-most parish in the archdiocese is extremely active, with a friendly blue-collar personality. Its calendar of activities is full, with something for everyone.
