The Catholic New World
A time for transitions

For many people, the start of fall seems more like the beginning of a new year than the first of January. Memories of our childhood and “back to school” traditions stay with us our entire life.

In many ways this edition of the Catholic New World signals a new beginning, not simply because fall is almost here, but because our editor and friend, Tom Sheridan, has retired and will be making his home in Florida. We will not even try to replace him. This decision was made easy because of the very talented, dedicated, and accomplished staff of this newspaper. They will carry on most competently during this time of transition and renewal.

What we will do, however, is take advantage of this time to look at The Catholic New World and pose the questions: what‘s next? What has worked well? What would you, our readers, like to see added? How can we improve the paper? What do you think would help you be better informed as a Catholic?

In order to help us be responsive to your suggestions, we have included a short reader survey (accessible online). Your input will guide us and help insure that the Catholic New World delivers what the faithful of Chicago feel they need to be more inspired and involved Catholics. It would be most helpful if you would fill it out, share your thoughts and opinions and return it to us at The Catholic New World, 640 N. LaSalle St., Ste. 390, Chicago, IL 60610.

You can also complete this same survey online here.
