Vatican’s words on same-sex marriage supported, protested
The release of a Vatican document urging Catholic politicians around the world to oppose laws allowing for same-sex marriages stirred reactions among Chicago-area Catholics and non-Catholics alike.

When Gilda Wagner first walked into the women’s division of the Cook County Jail as a volunteer 11 years ago, she did not feel scared or intimidated. Despite the security, the staff members who admitted her and Deacon Jack Malone for a Sunday morning Communion service were courteous, even cordial.


The Interview
Serrin Foster, president of Feminists for Life of America, shares her thoughts on pro-life feminism and on trends in the abortion controversy. Her lecture, “The Feminist Case Against Abortion,” was included in a 2001 book entitled, “Women’s Rights.”

Observations
Feeling persecuted?: While I don’t quite believe that hungry lions are getting warmed up in the stadium bullpen, there’s an uncomfortable amount of what might be termed “Catholic-bashing” going on.
