‘Contact’ presents prison hospice program

“Contact” will air “The Soul Set Free,” at 6:30 a.m. March 16 on WLUW (88.7 FM).

The program takes listeners inside prison walls to learn about a hospice program inmates turn to for help during their dying days.

Each year in this country, more than 3,000 inmates die behind bars. That number is expected to grow as the U.S. population as a whole ages, and as truth-in-sentencing laws create longer prison stays.

Ailing prisoners often face the end of life isolated from family and friends, with little emotional support.
“Contact” is a Jesuit non-profit production facility that gets its funding from listener donations. For further information, visit www.contactradio.org.
