Sr. Eileen Morley

50 years in education

Adrian Dominican Sr. Eileen Morley, 70, died June 23 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Mich.

Born in Chicago, she was a member of the Adrian Dominican Congregation for 53 years. She spent 50 years ministering in education in Michigan and Illinois. She held the following positions in the Archdiocese of Chicago: principal at Our Lady of Knock, Calumet City, from 1964-71; School Consultant for the Archdiocese, 1971-72; principal, Holy Ghost School, South Holland, 1974-88.

She retired in 2000 and returned to the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Mich.

Sr. Ruth Marie Ludwig

Missionary in Honduras

School Sister of St. Francis Ruth Marie Ludwig, 80, died June 24 at St. Joseph Convent, Campbellsport, Wis.

Born in Kloten, Wis., she was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis in 1940, and made her profession of vows in 1942. She was a missionary in Honduras from 1945-48.

A homemaker and teacher, her school assignments in the Archdiocese of Chicago included: St. William, 1941-43; St. Clara, Chicago, 1943-44; Holy Angels, Chicago, 1948-62; St. Martin, Chicago, 1964-66, 1969-75, 1976-77; St. Mary, Buffalo Grove, 1967-69. She also worked as a librarian at St. Martin from 1977-81, and as a driver for the sisters at Our Lady of Victory Convent, Chicago, from 1984-97.

Sr. Charles Louise Kluesner

Teacher

Sister of Providence Charles Louise Kluesner, 78, died June 28, in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind.

Born in Jasper, Ind., she entered the congregation of the Sisters of Providence in 1941, and made her profession of vows in 1949. She taught in schools staffed by the Sisters of Providence in Indiana, Illinois, Texas and California. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, her teaching assignments included: St. Mel-Holy Ghost, 1943-48, and St. Francis Borgia, 1954-61.

Sr. Pauline Marie Freeman

60 years in education

Adrian Dominican Sr. Pauline Marie Freeman, 94, died June 29 in Adrian, Mich.

Born in Ft. Wayne, Ind., she was a member of the Adrian Dominican Congregation for 73 years.

She spent 60 years ministering in education in Illinois, Michigan and Ohio. Her assignments at schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago included: Our Lady of Good Counsel, Chicago, 1927; Queen of Angels, Chicago, 1939-40; and Regina Dominican High School, Wilmette, 1971-88.

She retired in 1988 and returned to the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Mich, in 1996.

Sr. Emma Bublauskas

Educator and principal

Sister of Casimir Emma Bablauskas, 94, died June 30.

Born in Brighton, Mass., she was a member fo the Sisters of St. Casimir for 73 years.

Bablauskas served as a principal and educator at the primary and secondary levels. She taught at the following schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago: St. Anthony (Cicero), St. Geroge (Bridgeport), St. Michael, Immaculate Conception, Providence of God, St. Casimir (Chicago Heights), St. Joseph, and St. Casimir Academy.

Sr. M. Concordia Lawrence

Educator in four states

Franciscan Sister of Chicago M. Concordia Lawrence, 86, died July 1.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago for 66 years.

Lawrence's ministry in elementary and secondary education spanned four states. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, she taught at St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, Five Holy Martyrs, St. Pancratius and Madonna High School. She also served as assistant principal at St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, and was principal
