From 1992-1997 Mass was celebrated in the gym of a local public school and only wide open spaces stretched from the hill where St. Pauls now stands. Today new homes with young families dot the spaces and 300-400 infants are baptized yearly.
This simple, modern church was designed by Hammel, Green and Abrahamson. Oak floors in the semi-circular interior slope toward a raised sanctuary. Thanks to two low walls of clear glass and skylights, the weathers changing mood outside paints the neutral walls and ceiling in varied hues.
A mile from Six Flags Great America and eight miles from the Wisconsin border, this parish enjoys a cosmopolitan character. Area corporations have drawn a workforce from around the nation and many worship in this sacred space each Sunday, finding unity in their common faith.
A night light in St. Pauls lofty cupola can be seen for milesjust so radiates the faith of its pilgrim people.
