Seminar on Scripture and liturgy
This year’s summer Scripture seminar on “Sacred Scripture and Liturgy” offers participants a chance to examine biblical perspectives on liturgy and worship from the covenant rituals of Abraham to the heavenly liturgy in Revelation. Mass for separated, divorced Catholics
The archdiocese will hold a special Mass for Catholics who are separated or divorced at 3 p.m. June 24 at St. Fabian Church, 8300 S. Thomas, Bridgeview. Participants will come together to sing, pray and be strengthened to continue their lives in a Christ-like way. St. Fabian Parish will provide fellowship following the Mass. Catholics invited to Orthodox service
Catholics and other Christians are invited to a celebration of Great Vespers at 7 p.m. June 28 at S.S. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 1401 Wagner Road in Glenview. Metropolitan Iakovos of the Greek Orthodox Diocese of Chicago issued the invitation to celebrate the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul. The service is sponsored by the Ecumenical Millennium Committee. Chicago women to speak at conference
Adrian Dominican Sister Jamie T. Phelps, a visiting professor of theology at Loyola University Chicago, and Daughter of the Heart of Mary Sister Anita Baird, director of the archdiocesan Office for Racial Justice, will be among the presenters at the National Black Sisters’ Conference July 27-29 in Charlotte, N.C. “Black Catholic Women: Untapped Treasures … Magnify the Lord” is the culmination of regional forums held over the past eight years. The conference aims to give black Catholic women 18 and older an opportunity to talk frankly about their experiences in church, affirm each other and set an agenda for continuing their ministerial contributions to church and society.
