Parish Pride
St. Beatrice Church St. Beatrice Church
4157 Atlantic Avenue, Schiller Park

Schiller Park is bordered by O’Hare Field, a forest preserve and the villages of Rosemont and Franklin Park. In 1925 when this parish was formed, O’Hare didn’t exist.

But in this second church, built in 1957, worshippers accept an occasional jet roar during a homily. Designed by architects Beli and Beli, its deep sloping roof gives the impression of a tent—perhaps to image “the tent of testimony” that housed the Ark of the Covenant.

The most dramatic features in this modern edifice include its 30-foot high chancel crucifix with a stained glass representation of the Resurrection above it. Christ as the Good Shepherd is depicted in a stunning stained glass wall along with its Gospel verse of Divine relationship and evangelization.

Worshippers here have bonded to maintain what is precious to them. In this blue-collar parish, whenever a project needs to be done, they smile, roll up their sleeves and do it.
