COR concert for racial harmony
High school students from throughout

the archdiocese will come together in “Raising Our Voices in Celebration,” a concert sponsored by Catholic Schools Opposing Racism, from 7 to 9 p.m. April 25 at Old St. Patrick’s Church, 700 W. Adams. The collaborative concert is the culminating event of “Voices That Challenge: Raising Our Voices to Transform Our World,” COR’s 2000-2001 series of events. Suggested donation is $5. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will follow the concert.

DePaul honors Chicago playwright
The Theatre School of DePaul University will present the Cunningham Prize for Playwriting to Chicago playwright and actor Tom Mula, author of “Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol,” at a reception at 4 p.m. April 25 in the Cortelyou Commons South Room, 2324 N. Fremont St. The $5,000 prize was established in 1991 to recognize dramatic works that affirm the centrality of religion and the human quest for meaning, truth and community.

Columnist to speak at Holy Family
Jim Wallis, an educator, columnist and editor of Sojourners Magazine, will speak at all Masses at Holy Family Parish in Inverness the weekend of April 28-29 about “Call to Renewal,” a program he convened in 1995. Call to Renewal is based on overcoming poverty, dismantling racism, affirming life and rebuilding family and community. Wallis also will speak about “Eradicating Hunger and Homelessness: We Can Do It!” at 1 p.m. April 29. All are invited. Free will offerings will be accepted. For information, call (847) 359-0042.

A day for those who have lost a child
The Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii, 1224 W. Lexington, will host a pilgrimage for all those who have lost a child, whether to miscarriage or accident or disease, in the womb, in childhood or adulthood, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 12. The day will include a Liturgy of Lamentation offered by Father Richard Fragomeni and a keynote address by Kadie Bilman, co-author of “Rachel’s Cry: Recovering the Cry of Lament.” For information, call (312) 421-3757.
