Singers invited to racial healing service
The archdiocesan Office for Racial Justice is inviting singers to participate in the Mass choir for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Racial Healing and Reconciliation Service. Bishop Wilton D. Gregory of Belleville, Ill., will be the keynote speaker at the service, which is at 7 p.m. April 4 at Holy Family Church, Roosevelt Road and May Street. Volunteers for medical mission needed
An ophthalmologist and surgical nurses are needed for the archdiocese’s spring medical mission to Bolivia. The two-week medical mission is slated for the last week of March and the first week of April. The missioners will be commissioned at a Mass celebrated by Cardinal George at 9:30 a.m. March 18 at Queen of All Saints Basilica, 6280 N. Sauganash. For more information, call Juan L. House chaplain at St. Barnabas
Father Daniel Coughlin, chaplain of the U.S. House of Representatives, will be the homilist and guest speaker at the St. Barnabas St. Patrick’s Eve Family Liturgy at 7:30 p.m. March 16 in the church, 101st Place and South Longwood Drive. The Mass includes the Madeline Weber Irish Dancers, choral music and the Stockyards Kilty Band. The evening will begin with music at 7 p.m. and end with a tea-and-soda-bread reception. Cardinal George celebrates at St. Pat’s
Cardinal George will celebrate Mass at 9 a.m. March 17 in honor of St. Patrick’s Day at Old St. Patrick’s Church, 718 W. Adams St., as part of the parish’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Kick-Off Celebration. The Mass will feature Celtic music, the Sheila Tully Irish Stepdancers and the Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band. The Mass will be followed by an Irish breakfast and guided tours of the church’s Celtic revival art and stained glass windows. Doors open at 7 a.m., and reservations are required. Casa Jesús offers Latin American fun
Casa Jesús, the archdiocesan house of formation for Hispanic men who are considering the priesthood. “A Little Taste of Latin America” offers ethnic food and beverages for sale and Latin American entertainment from 2 to 6 p.m. March 25 in the lower hall at Notre Dame de Chicago, 1335 W. Harrison St. Admission is free.
